Located in Door County, Wisconsin, the Blacksmith Inn on the Shore bed and breakfast offers a relaxing atmosphere and great accommodations. Situated right along the Lake Michigan coast in Bailey's Harbor, our room was only 75 feet from the water. We enjoyed our stay in an time-period room (Room 6) with gorgeous woodwork and modern amenities including a whirlpool. A balcony with a hammock, two wooden lounge chairs, and an end table provided a great place to relax and get away from the big city. Staff is friendly, and they offer free use of bicycles and kayaks to get out and enjoy the natural surroundings. Peninsual State Park is within a 45 minute bicycle ride (15 min by car), and is worth the trip. The only downside with this B&B is the cost, it's pretty expensive, and lack of a hot breakfast. Luckily, we had a gift certificate from Select Registry, so we stayed 3 nights. Breakfast was more of a continental breakfast, which is dissappointing considering how superb everything else was.

I adore the Blacksmith inn. The rooms and building are quaintly but modernly decorated. The staff are beyond friendly, and the little extras like daily freshmade lemonade and popcorn are a real treat. You are also right on the lake, and can sit on the catwalk by the lake or use their canoes to go out on it. I'd recommend The Blacksmith Inn to anyone. You'll love it.

The attention to detail is incredible. The owners are hands on present, involved and good inn keepers. Yes, it's expensive, almost breath takingly so. But I have no qualms about spending money if I feel I got a good value. Immaculate rooms. No kids. Comfortably decorated in an Early-Americana-meets-Appalachia style. Go for the lodging. Go elsewhere for food, it's not a restaurant. It's an excellent jumping off point for almost any point on the door.

Everything is amazing about the Blacksmith Inn; it's like something out of a dream or a movie. The ambience of exterior of the grounds is breath taking. From the old blacksmith building, to the gardens, to the amazing pier on the lake. The interior of the rooms have such a country, quaint feel to them. We had a first floor room with a hammock that was great to sit in early morning to gaze out at the view of the lake. The fire place was so cozy and added a great romantic touch. The locally made hand soap in the bathroom was so delicious smelling we had to buy some to take home! They offered great opting for breakfast. The inn keepes make homemade granola and cookies, fruit, cereal and delicious oatmeal. They also left out gluten free oatmeal for me to have! They coffee they have is to die for! Along with several juices. In the evening they left out lemonade and fresh popped popcorn, which was a nice little snack to have available. The BnB also offered some complimentary sports. They had bikes to use off the premisses and kayaked and stand up paddle boards. The SUPing was sooo much fun! The cove is mostly calm, for newbies so it was the perfect setting to try out!! I don't think I can wait to come back up to Baileys Harbor. The Blacksmith in will be our go to place from now on, no contest! Thanks to all of the staff for making our stay the best Door County trip we have had to date!

What a lovely charming b&b. We had a wonderful stay with friendly staff, thoughtful touches like fresh baked cookies in the lobby and warm popcorn in the evening. Spacious room with perfect outside space. Hearing the waves along the shore at night was just what we needed. We'll be back for sure.

Oh Door County, you wondrous vacation spot from my childhood! Not visiting in years, I recently had a chance to go back to Door County with my husband, sister, and parents- AND it was like I remembered it with the added bonuses of now being an adult who can do more shopping (allowance becomes salary) and drinking (cider becomes cider). These are good things. Yes, it is a nice spot for young families, but you can also have a quality time with a group of adults. If you have never been or never heard of Door County (or DCW for us in the know), it is about five hours from Chicago (four if you speed, but you won't want to). Five hours is a completely manageable drive, when the weather is nice; when it isn't, you basically pray on a loop that you won't hit a deer. The anxiety just makes the drive more fun! In pleasant weather, you pass distracting places with huge signs that simply say "C-H-E-E-S-E" and "F-I-R-E-W-O-R-K-S" on them. Driving from Chicago, you basically follow the coast line of Lake Michigan until you can't drive anymore; DCW is the thumb on the hand of Wisconsin. For my Michigan natives, use your other hand to understand Wisconsin's hand geography. Where we have stayed at friend's cabins and some other hotels, we stayed at Blacksmith Inn on the Shore this time. Blacksmith Inn is beautiful and has many room options (including ones in the Harbor House next door). For this stay, we rented out the Orchard House across the street. The four-bedroom fully-functional house felt more like an airbnb rental than connected to the Inn, which was absolutely perfect. So much well-preserved vintage, comfortable beds, and an excess of bathrooms made this a great place for our group. There are many other stay options in Door County; with all of the inns, B+Bs, lodges, and actual airbnb rentals, you basically need to breakdown what are going to be the most important amenities for your stay and book accordingly, but this place was perfect for us.

The off season pricing was within my work budget, and I was thrilled. My husband and I have stayed here a few times, and there isn't a nicer place in door county! White Gull is nice, but super overpriced and the noise from breakfast crowds make mornings unpleasant. This inn is homey, serene and delightful. I was warmly welcomed, and the small lobby is always filled with popcorn, cider, tea coffee and snacks. Rooms have whirlpool tubs and are keenly appointed with antiques, but still feel fresh and modern. Can't wait for my next stay!!!

We were on our honeymoon and was recommended by another B&B to stay here. We got to the Inn and they changed the price and didn't honor their mistake which pretty much cemented the idea that it's about the money and not the stay for the staff. It was later in the day and the staff seemed like they wanted to play chicken in that we drove there and would roll over and pay the higher price. Not happening when it was their mistake. They'd rather lose the money than fill the room when it was pretty clear there were plenty of vacant rooms. We found the the Church Hill Inn which is an English B&B in Sister Bay. The price was $100 less, awesome huge suite with fireplace, fridge, large jacuzzi, and private balcony. By the pictures of Blacksmith Inn, I'm beyond thrilled we found CHI and stayed there vs Blacksmith Inn. If money is no object and you understand money is all the object to staff, stay here. Otherwise there are obvious better options.

This place was adorable and the perfect getaway for a birthday weekend. I read and read the reviews of all other inns and B&Bs in the area looking for a good place to stay during November. I am so glad I picked this place. I was a little worried that Door County might kind of be dead during the off season, but it was perfect! Everything was a little lower priced and an amazing getaway. The Blacksmith Inn was amazing, we were greeted by someone as soon as we walked in. They showed us to our room and all the amenities. The view was beautiful! I loved all the lights and the coast that you could see from the window. We stayed in a room in the main inn. The breakfast in the morning, was so tasty. They had oatmeal, granola, boiled eggs, yogurt, cheese, organic coffee. It was delicious. They also provided nice trays that you could load your breakfast on and take with you upstairs. I loved the touches of homeade cookies, cocoa, tea, coffee, and popcorn that was always available for guests. The Inn is very close to the main street of Bailey's Harbor so you can walk to some very tasty restaurants. The room was very cutely decorated, with adorable little touches all around. The fireplace was so nice to sit in front of while we listened to the waves roll in off Lake Michigan. The lights in the room are dimmable so you can sit in the two person bathtub. The inn provides bath salts and an amazing apple cider soap! The only thing I would complain about is that the bed was really creaky. A small shift while you were sleeping and a loud creak would ensue, but I'm used to a memory phone mattress...haha. I would recommend staying here to all my friends and I would stay here again next time I venture out to Door County.

One of the best B and B's I have stayed at. Very tranquil and quiet. Good lake views. The bed and pillows were heavenly. They had good quality bikes and paddle boards to use. Their continental breakfast was tasty and healthy. A must stay in Door County.

The Blacksmith Inn is a must when visiting Door County. The staff's attention to detail and wonderful hospitality make each guest feel like they are the only ones at the Inn. Personal service and only 15 minutes from Peninsula State Park and countless other activities. They are open year round and are a perfect location for a winter get away. Stay Here!

This place is amazing. My boyfriend had been away for a week for work so we decided to meet here for a romantic weekend...we were so surprised at the level of detail to service this inn had. We have stayed in four star resorts and this is right up there. It has everything and fabulous service too! The views are spectacular. We cannot wait to go back! Thank you Brian!!!

This beautiful inn is located right on Lake Michigan near the Ridges Sanctuary. The attention to detail is amazing. Enjoy the beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking the lake, the beautiful rooms with balcony hammock, the fresh baked cookies and cabinet full of dvds and the shed full of bikes. Great, great place for a romantic get away.
